A Place to Share (Slow) Thoughts.

You know what was really lovely about the bloggersphere of the mid-2000s? It was slow paced. Folks would write out their meanderings in a humanish way, add a few delightful pictures to give you a more complete story, and that was that. You were left feeling somewhat full—as if you had just consumed a chapter out of a book. There weren’t as many advertisments to contend with, and there certainly wasn’t the constant ‘flicking of the finger’ to scroll on to the next bit of bite-sized information.

Lest I become someone who is reminiscing too highly of days gone by, let me pause to say that there were struggles then too. The blogging world wasn’t all good. In every era, we have to temper our desires to keep them in check. Just because the incessant scrolling didn’t exist then, we could still easily go from “house to house” of blogs and lose site of what was sitting right in front of us.

Technology has continued to shift, and often times, we find ourselves shifting with it lest we get left behind. Just so you know, I’m not a Luddite. I have a YouTube channel and an Instagram page. These are tools that can help get our message out in profound ways. They can be useful towards inspiration and learning. But they—especially Instagram, can be highly addictive and we must be careful with what these bite-sized bits of information are doing to our brains and souls.

I have been longing to create a space where I can write slowly. It seems to me the answer lies in book writing and blogging here and there. This seems to be a suitable place to share some photography and bits and pieces of what the Lord is doing around Thuja Hill. Additionally, I also need a logical place in which to put my recipes that are shared on YouTube. This feels like the proper spot. I’m hoping you’ll join me in this space if you long for the same slow-paced encouragement of homemaking that I do.

You won’t find perfection here. There’s only One Perfect, and I will do my best to point you to Him. Here, you will find another fallen woman saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, striving to glorify God in everyday, ordinary life. It is my hope that you will find a respite here, of beauty. Let this be a place of inspiration and camaraderie as we together strive to be the best homemakers we can be, to the glory of God. We aren’t here for long—so let’s make the most of it in light of what’s to Come!
